Walpole Reuse Center

The New Walpole NH Reuse Center opened its doors with a ribbon cutting ceremony October 10th 2020! We are pleased to report that the Reuse Center brought in more cash donations on opening day than was typical for an entire month at the old reuse trailer. And 'Friends of the Walpole Library' is now an integral part of our operation. They are helping to stock and organize the Reuse "Library", with all proceeds from book sales going to the Friends. Books are $2 for a hardcover, and $1 for soft cover.
Do you have items you would like to donate to the Reuse Center? We take items in good to excellent condition and in working order. But be advised that the are a number of things we cannot take. (A list of what we can and cannot take will be posted here soon!) Just bring your donations to a Recycling Center attendant who will determine if we can accept it, and then items will be weighed so we have a record of the number of pounds of donated items.
The cash donations from items purchased at the Reuse Center are split 50/50 between the Fall Mtn. Food Shelf and Fall Mtn. Friendly Meals. Stop by to shop or volunteer (check sign up sheet) Tuesday/ Thursday/ Saturday from 8-4. We are staffed by Volunteers, and the Reuse Center will close anytime there is no volunteer. Thank you for checking us out!

Trash
Trash can be brought in two ways:
In a Walpole bag ($2 per bag)
It can be tossed into the trash compactor. (Walpole bags -- sleeves of 10 bags for $20 -- are available at the following stores: Aubuchon Hardware, Drewsville General Store, Fall Mountain Building Supply, 5 Star Beverage, Jake’s Market, Jiffy Mart, LaValley Building Supply, Discount Food Warehouse, Shaw’s, and the Walpole Village Store.)
In a non-Walpole bag
It goes to the weigh-and-pay section, where the fee is $0.40/lb. (we encourage Walpole bag purchase)

Hazardous waste
The Recycling Center does not take hazardous waste (such as asbestos or anything marked flammable, poisonous, toxic, combustible, corrosive, caustic, reactive, irritant, oxidizer, or hazardous).
- The Keene Recycling Center takes most of these. Their website describes what they do and don’t take and gives their yearly summer-fall schedule. (If amounts exceed free limits, payment is by check only.) (Phone: 352-5739.)
- There are things Keene Recycling won’t take that either local police departments or fire departments will.
- Consult local police (445-2058) for disposal of ammunition, gun powder, or medication. (Twice a year -- spring and fall -- the Walpole Police Department coordinates with the Recycling Center for public medication disposal at the Center.)
- Consult local fire department (756-3621) for disposal of fireworks.
Volunteering
We’re part of the community and want the community to be part of us. To volunteer, contact Recycling Center Manager Benjamin Hoy for information. (Phone: (603)445-5197 or email at transfer@myfairpoint.net.)
