  • How do I register a motor vehicle?

Please bring: registration / driver’s license / check, cash, or credit card.

A renewal may be done online, if there are no corrections, such as address change, to be made. Click on “E-Registration”.

New vehicles – must be done in the Clerk’s office. For vehicles model year 2000 or newer, please bring the vehicle’s title or a title application (CTA) made with an auto dealer. For vehicles older than 2000, please bring a detailed bill of sale and one of the following three documents: title, previous NH registration for that vehicle, or VIN verification document (19-A Form). All transactions require owner’s driver’s license. Unless a title application has already been done with a dealer, all individuals appearing on the vehicle’s title or bill of sale and registration must appear at the office for registration.

Estimates: Renewal estimates can be done online. (Click on “E-Registration”.) Renewal estimates will not be done in the office. New registrations require all paperwork to be presented to the Clerk before costs can be estimated.

Transfering Plates to a new car? Remember to bring your old registration! For a Large Number of registration renewals (more than five), please consider leaving the registrations and a signed check with us. We will process them as time allows, photocopy resultant check, and call you when they are ready. The registrations will need to be signed the same day.

We do not issue Temporary Plates; please go to a DMV station for these.

All plate types begin processing at the Town Clerk’s Office, but many Specialty Plates (antique, vanity, veterans, etc.) will finish processing at a DMV station.
