MINUTES OF THE MEETING

CEMETERY COMMITTEE

July 17, 2009

Present:  Connie Adams, Pamela Howard, Paul Massicotte

We met at 8:30 a.m. at the town hall.

Jim Corey noticed that the headstone for Laurence Field was erroneously placed in Section D rather than Section B.  Keene Monument was notified of the error and they will rectify the situation.

We had a call from Marcia Reed regarding the cleaning and repair of her parents monuments (Reed).  Permission was given.  In the same vein, Nora Larsen asked if the town would repair the tipped headstone for Samuel Hubbard and was informed that that would be the responsibility of the family and not the town.  She and her brother-in-law will decide whether or not to have it repaired.

A letter from the committee will be sent to Georgina Thomas who erected a wooden cross on her relative’s grave in place of a headstone asking that the cross be removed since a permanent headstone has been placed on the gravesite.  Previously she had agreed to remove it and we will take further action if it is not removed before our next meeting on September 25th.

We are currently waiting for a call from Chris Ricci whom the selectmen recommended be given the chance to submit a quote for the tree removal in the Drewsville Cemetery.  In hand are quotes from Rice Tree Service and from Parrott Tree Service.  When this quote is received the committee will submit a report to the Selectmen.

Paul has taken photographs of the damaged stones in the Drewsville Cemetery and will  take photographs when the work is complete hopefully by the end of the summer.

Meeting was adjourned at 9:30.
